Michiana NWF Certification

Dr. Charlotte Wolfe

We offer sustainable agriculture and environmental science programs for adults and children.  My husband and I jointly own and have restored 65 acres of wetland, prairie, and forest habitats while developing a sustainable agriculture plan for an additional 20 acres. Our programs provide educational field trips & classes for local schools; spring & summer day camps; and volunteer opportunities for college students. We hope you will enroll your habitat on your property; or join with your local park to enroll.  The more habitats are enrolled, the more public officials will see that habitat restoration is what the public wants and needs for our community!

Michiana Community Certification

Prairie Winds Nature Farm has volunteered to coordinate the Michiana Area community page for the National Wildlife Federation's (NWF) Community Certification Program. The goal of this program is to promote the conservation of wildlife habitats nationally through community participation.

How We Got Started:

The Northwestern Indiana certification group introduced Prairie Winds Nature Farm to this NWF effort. Their team inspired us to launch participation in the project knowing that the Michiana Area has a wealth of habitats and ongoing conservation efforts.

What We Do:

Nationally, the goal of the Community Certification Program is to identify, count, and increase the number of wildlife habitats in our community. Certification helps to educate citizens and encourage the creation of more wildlife friendly habitats.

Get Involved:

To reach our national and local goals, community involvement is crucial. Easy ways to support this program are to certify the natural space you work with or own. Natural spaces and habitats include public and private property such as parks, schools, yards, and gardens. Please initiate with your favorite public place by contacting officals!
